If I had to give this meaning....
I'd say I like how the 4 pillars create a little space , like a mini ancient temple.  defined boundries, a tiny sacred space and a room to help you weather the worst of the storm & still enjoy the sun when it shines.

May 22 | Ask the Camera Guy (AKA: rumimume@gmail.com)

Ask the Camera Guy

Question: (asking for a friend) "What would you recommend for a trip to South Africa/wildlife tour. Not sure if they want interchangeable lens or point and shoot."

Answer:
"wildlife tour" makes me think they want a big zoom.
Zoom with your feet works well for street photography, but not so well for lions & hyenas.
So my 1st thought is a powershot.
The canon powershot sx60 has 65x zoom , IS, 1080 video, tilt screen & connects to your phone.
They're about $500 at bust buy, amazon, henry's etc*

I assume they aren't camera geeks (if they where they wouldn't be asking me for advice), which is why I started with a point and shoot.

I they're looking for something more high-end or interchangeable lenses let me know (with some more details) & I'll give it some more thought.

There are some Sony's that are getting lots of hype for their low light capability that would be awesome for night safari's type stuff.  If they are doing that type of thing.

Pic-of-The-day - "Shrouded".

Maybe I felt a bit guilty wandering around a cemetery taking photos that are 'just interesting pics' , but I felt like take a few that had a bit more thought & emotion.
For yesterday's photo I used composition, for today's I'm using  colour &, brightness, & saturation.

I'd like this photo to be reminiscent of how a bright day can look when your emotionally exhausted. The colours are there, you can identify them, but the have no vibrancy, the light is too bright & shadows are just a dull gray.

I'm not sure if it's too subtle, but I was really trying to avoid, being melodramatic & going gray scale & blowing out the highs & lows.

This isn't my usual type of work & so I 'd really appreciate any thoughts.

Pic-of-The-day - "Mourning".

A visit to a local cemetery in Early Spring.

I tried to put of extra thought into this one and use the figure to help convey the emotions associated with loss.
I shot (mostly) from the back to to give a feeling of isolation.
The figure is placed with her face closer to the edge of the frame which is against the usual rules on portraiture. In film this is called short sighting and is used to give a feeling that the subject is trapped which is exactly how grief can make us feel.
Finally I instead of shooting completely from the back I wanted to give us a hint of where her face is to help us connect to her, because we can all experience those feels at some point.

Please let me know what you think, does any of this come through in image?
