McFarlin House Heritage Christmas (2017)

For the last few years EpicDi  & I have spent a December day in Niagara-On-The-Lake Taking Photos and Shooting video footage.
We start with the 'NOTL Santa Claus Parade' then move over to Fort George for their 'Garrison Christmas' and finish up with The Heritage at McFarland House.

The All Saints Sessions - Easter Morning Celebration from 1993

Once again I'm posting from what I've been calling "The All Saints Sessions".

The All Saints Sessions are a hand full of old recordings (some Audio, some video) captured in the 1990's at All Saint Anglican Church in Niagara Falls.

I have previously posted Audio from Lessons  & Carols & Christmas Eve Services. Now it's time for  video of the 1993 Easter Morning Celebration.

This is a 25 year old video taken with a consumer camcorder & recorded on a magnetic tape that sat in a box for about 15 years before being digitized. I've done some light colour correction & a bit of work to boost the audio. But, for the most part I've left it looking & sounding like a home video from 25 years ago. A few edits have been made to remove problems with tape and so on but, it's mostly the same as it was when it was shot.

The video has been divided it into smaller pieces for easy posting.

Pic-of-The-day - "Orbs".

In the above "orb photos" the green spots are reflections of the candle flame bouncing around inside the camera lens. The situation is exacerbated by the very dark room with only one bright source and the lens aperture being wide open at f1.4. 

The situation is similar to people who go ghost hunting in dark places with very few light sources. Like in these examples the cameras that are straining to get a decent image and they get 'orbs' similar to the ones I got.

I wish there was more too it, but just about every 'orb photo' I've seen is a variation on,1) the above effect or 2) dust close to the lens lit by an on camera flash.

PoTd - September 15 Halloween is Here!

OK Halloween isn't actually here, according to most people. There are, however, people that start celebrating early.
I'm sort of one of those people.
Sort of because I won't start decorating for a while, but I'm starting to post Halloween Photos today, mostly because I have so many. Soon I'll be listening to Halloween Audio (Podcasts, Old Time Radio, libravox stuff etc.) and shortly after that It will be time to start watching the stock of Halloween movies & TV we have accumulated.

Long story short.. Halloween is almost here, but I'm starting early.

I was working late one night in late October 2010, listening to ghost stories on my walkman. I was going out to the mail room, came around a dark corner and saw what appeared, for a second to be a child in a costume standing on the edge of the shadows.  It stopped me for a second until I realized it was a doll/decoration. So, I went back to the office to get my camera to see if I could recreate my first impression in a photo.
